70% of the world’s illiterate are women, and in over 20 developing countries, less than 30% of women can read.

Studies show that educated women are less likely to contract HIV/AIDS or be exploited by human traffickers, and more likely to marry later, have fewer children, actually send their children to school, and contribute to family income.
