Sports Equipment Drive
/Paulatuk is a remote village in Northern Canada, accessible only by aircraft. Because it is so remote, typical goods are sold at a much higher than normal rate to accommodate transportation costs. This, coupled with an extremely high unemployment rate, leaves families with little to no extra income. Paulatuk has a recreation committee, but no budget to support it, leading to a lack of equipment. Without equipment, attendance in the Rec Center's programs had dropped off.
Amanda, Robertshaw, a CellMark employee based in Canada and member of PaperSeed Vancouver, saw an opportunity to help when a friend in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was posted in the area. Amanda headed up a sports equipment drive in the office and saw to the delivery. Now, Paulatuk's children can come out and play again!
