Meet Our PaperSeed Champions: Tia Razon

Part of what makes PaperSeed so unique is our ability to connect with inspiring people, be they volunteers, business partners, or local leaders. To celebrate our new monthly newsletters, we are profiling one of our PaperSeed Champions every month, sharing 5 things you may not have known about them!

This month's PaperSeed Champion is Tia Razon, founder of Corazon Roxas Foundation

1. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?

Developing and creating programs that help change the lives of underprivileged families is the most interesting and rewarding work I have ever done and my passion. Growing the CRF Foundation requires focus and flexibility, challenges in dealing with different cultures and lots of dedication.

2. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN'T WORKING OR VOLUNTEERING?

Traveling is a love I've always had. It gives you a broader perspective of the world and an appreciation for different cultures and people, it teaches you respect for our fragile environment and expands your knowledge of the history of the world.

3. WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?

My role model is my mother, Corazon Roxas, the foundation's namesake. My mother instilled upon her children the importance of helping those less fortunate. Having had the privilege of living for several years in the Philippines and seeing the needs in the third world firsthand, I learned from her that, however small, everyone can make make a difference and that we had a responsibility to help disadvantaged families anyway we could.

4. WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE REALLY GOOD AT?

Professionally, I love managing people and helping bring out the best in themselves. This in turn, helps their work and the team be successful.

Personally, I'm a pretty good baker. I went to pastry school learning traditional techniques but now bake gluten free, which can be very difficult to make things come out perfect.

5. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU HOPE TO LEARN IN THE FUTURE? (LIKE A NEW LANGUAGE, INSTRUMENT, OR SKILL?)

I've always wanted to learn Spanish. Thanks to mobile apps I can work on learning a little each day, anytime, anywhere. I'm now 6% fluent, a long way to go!
