Meet Our PaperSeed Champions: Diana Gray

Part of what makes PaperSeed so unique is our ability to connect with inspiring people, be they volunteers, business partners, or local leaders. To celebrate our new monthly newsletters, we are profiling one of our PaperSeed Champions every month, sharing 5 things you may not have known about them!

This month's PaperSeed Champion interview is with our very own Operations Assistant, Diana Gray!

1. How did you first get involved with the Non-Profit/ NGO sector?

I was hired as part of Girl Scouts of Northern California's community outreach team in college. I had been in Girl Scouts up through Juniors, and really enjoyed getting to run troops for girls who otherwise wouldn't get the chance to be a part of the experience.

2. What do you like to do when you aren't working or volunteering?

I spend a huge chunk of my free time writing. I've been working on a fiction novel (title pending) for years, which I am currently in the process of editing. I also really enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, hikes in the redwoods, and the occasional video game.

3. Who is your role model and why?

This may sound a little funny, because she's a fictional character, but I aspire to be like Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. She's passionate, dedicated, has so much integrity, and spends her life doing what she loves. I have a little sign in my cube that says "Be the Leslie Knope of What You Do." I take that to heart.

4. What's something you're really good at?

I'm a fantastic cook and am always challenging myself to try new, more difficult recipes. I have also been known to do a really spot-on impression of Marlon Brando as the Godfather.

5. Is there anything you hope to learn in the future? (Like a new language, instrument, or skill?)

There are so many things I want to learn, and there just isn't enough time in the day! I love learning languages, and want to improve my fluency in both in Spanish and Japanese. I love music and would like to learn to play the piano, or possibly even bass guitar.
