1. What are you most passionate about?
I’ve lived a charmed life. Born in a land of opportunity of two loving parents, four siblings, great education and the opportunity to see the world while working hard and playing hard. I’ve seen great need at home and abroad and nothing gives me more satisfaction than contributing to the physical, educational and emotional wellbeing of someone who didn’t draw the life card that I did.
2. What do you like to do when you aren’t working or volunteering?
What do you mean “aren’t working”? Just kidding. I’ve always enjoyed an active life of sports and fitness. In earlier years team sports football, basketball, baseball and Rugby. Surfing, snow skiing, cycling, golf and motor sports. The latter I’ve been doing for 30 years all over the world. Of course traveling the world for business and pleasure (90+ countries so far) continues to inspire me.
3. Who’s your role model and why?
Simple choice, my father. With five children he always put family first. He took us surfing when we were kids. He taught me to drive fast but controlled. Most importantly he instilled a value system of respect and help for the less fortunate. He walked his own talk, gave us the best education he really couldn’t afford and told us to pay it forward.
4. What’s something you’re really good at?
See item 2 above. Some I was reasonably good at but in all cases there were others who were better. I guess I would consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. I’ll leave it at that.
5. Is there anything you hope to learn in the future (like a language, instrument or skill?)
I would like to honor my Spanish mother by becoming more proficient speaking Spanish. I would also like to figure out some of the mysteries of life like how they get Teflon to stick to the pan……
