5 Things You Didn't Know About Amita Vyas

Girl Rising is an extraordinary film and a global campaign for girls' education and empowerment. PaperSeed is partnering with Girl Rising India to implement a comprehensive multimedia module in schools to teach and sensitize students, teachers, and parents about gender roles/stereotypes, and to encourage them to challenge these norms.

This month, we interviewed Amita Vyas, producer of Girl Rising India and professor at George Washington Unviersity, to learn more about what makes her a PaperSeed Champion!

1. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?  I am most passionate about ensuring that girls in the United States and around the word are healthy, educated, and free from violence.

2. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN'T WORKING OR VOLUNTEERING? 

I love traveling with my husband and 3 children (Saira age 13, Shaan age 11, and Neera age 8). 

3. WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?

I have been so fortunate to have multiple role models in my life.  My mom has really been the most significant role model in my life.  She has taught me strength, resilience, and compassion.

4. WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE REALLY GOOD AT?

Listening to people.

5. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU HOPE TO LEARN IN THE FUTURE? (LIKE A NEW LANGUAGE, INSTRUMENT, OR SKILL?)

I would love to learn how to sing!
