5 Things You Didn't Know About Caren McNelly McCormack, President & Co-Founder- The Kilgoris Project
/We have had the pleasure of working in partnership with the Kilgoris Project over the past six years. In that time, we have aided with the building and expansion of two of their schools, and provided seed funding (pun absolutely intended) for their social enterprise tree farm. We are so inspired by the work the Kilgoris Project team does, and are pleased to introduce you to Caren, TKP's dedicated president and co-founder!
1. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?
Expanding the horizons of marginalized children through holistic education.
2. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN'T WORKING OR VOLUNTEERING?
Hike in our beautiful NorCal hills and mountains, usually with my Cairn terrier in tow; read fiction; knit/crochet.
3. WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?
I admire the late author Henri Nouwen for his honesty in chronicling a life-long spiritual journey and Pope Francis for the way he demonstrates care for the vulnerable.
4. WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE REALLY GOOD AT?
Word puzzles and games. I’m a true word nerd.
5. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU HOPE TO LEARN IN THE FUTURE? (LIKE A NEW LANGUAGE, INSTRUMENT, OR SKILL?)
One day I’ll try beekeeping. (If I can ever get my family on board.) It would be great to improve my Swahili to have a better handle on tricky verb changes. If my fingers would cooperate, I’d love to learn to play the cello.
