5 Things You Didn't Know About Corrina Grace: Founder & Executive Director of SERES
/Name: Corrina Grace
Organization: SERES
Title: Founder/Executive Director
We have had the pleasure of working with Corrina and the SERES team since 2014, when we partnered with them to support their Sustainability Leadership program. The SERES mission is to cultivate and catalyze youth leaders to create more just and sustainable communities in Central America, and under Corrina's leadership they are doing all that and more. Learn more about what makes Corrina such an inspiring leader for SERES below!
1. WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I’m most passionate about facilitating/inspiring/empowering people to live a life of passion and purpose. As Howard Thurman says, “Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” I believe that as we get closer to living lives of passion and purpose, we will get closer and closer to living sustainably – in balance and harmony within the natural order of our environment.
2. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN'T WORKING OR VOLUNTEERING?
It doesn’t feel like there isn’t a lot of in between time, but I do love our Antigua Ultimate Frisbee game on Sundays, and I have recently taken up mountain biking. Our next challenge is to ride 50km from Antigua to Lake Atitlán!
3. WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?
I don’t really think about role models, but the people that inspire me most are SERES’ youth, in particular our young women. Knowing the amount of obstacles that they have had to overcome just to be here today, and then seeing them work so hard to create change in their communities so that future generation’s lives will be different – that’s what gets me out of bed each day!
4. WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE REALLY GOOD AT?
Asking great questions!
5. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU HOPE TO LEARN IN THE FUTURE? (LIKE A NEW LANGUAGE, INSTRUMENT, OR SKILL?)
So many things! I’d like to learn to be a great mother, better friend, wiser mentor. I’d like to learn to age gracefully. And I’d love to learn to kiteboard! That should cover the next year or so…
