Sunshine Village Computer Center

The Sunshine Village was opened after the devastating 2004 tsunami to protect & assist disadvantaged children affected by the disaster in the 4 southern Thailand provinces, and provide a new home for children whose families can no longer take care of them. The children live in houses like a “normal” family and are supported by the village until they achieve a bachelor degree and find an adequate job to manage life on their own.

The Sunshine Village has a study room in place, but it was equipped with 8-year-old desktop computers. The director of the village requested urgent replacement of these computers, as they were very slow and required a lot of service hours to be able to work. The unreliable computers significantly slowed down the learning process for the children and hindered their work-in particular for the older children, who need use the computers for school.

PaperSeed Singapore replaced the old ones by applying for a Local+Global grant to purchase 10 new desktop computers, thus improving the learning environment for the children.

This project is part of our Local+Global initiative.
